Last Great Western

Chaos again last night and this morning trying to travel between Bristol and Oldfield Park. This morning the press were in attendance and we were told by a FGW on the platform that the 07:31 service would have 5 carriages...but of course it turned up full and standing with only 2 carriages again.

The stupiodity of the FGW management is shown by the following comments from
Andrew Griffiths, the regional manager of First Great Western

"We can't put on extra (trains) we can only shuffle round what we've got and we have to be careful not to rob Peter to pay Paul," he said.

Well why are carriages that were there last week no longer available?

"The capacity is there and we do need to persuade people to use high speed trains."

Well the high speed trains do not stop at Oldfield Park, Keynsham or Filton Abbey Wood. He seems to be expecting passengers waiting at the large stations to only board the high spped trains so that the other trains are free for local stations. He's living in a fantasy world.

It's sheer incompetence.
