First Great Western service from Oldfield Park

We all know that the local train service has deterioted rapidly since First Great Western took over the local train franchise from Wessex trains. But with the introduction of the new timetable since 10th December the service has descended to 3rd World levels. Fewer trains, fewer carriages mean that passengers attempting to travel between Bath, Oldfield Park,Keynsham,Bristol Temple Meads and Filton Abbey Wood face appalling overcrowding.

This morning I attempted to catch the 07:31 service from Oldfield Park. The train consisted of 2 small Sprinter type carriages and the train was already full and standing on departure from Bath. This meant that the 50-60 passengers waiting at Oldfield Park were unable to board the train. There has been no prior delays or canellations. The train is just too small for the number of passengers.

Angry words were exchanged between passengers and train staff, although the train staff were very sympathetic, handing out complaint forms and promising to raise the issue with their management.

The service is becoming unusable. I have contacted Don Foster via his web site, as well as First Great Western. If you are a fellow passenger then please do the same.
