Jason Donavon visits Twerton Park

With no activity in the Fifth test due to rain I decided to go and watch Bath City in their FA cup qualifying match against Cinderford Town. The crowd was small, no doubt depressed by City's previous performance. But there was plenty of goal mouth action, with City dominateing the match but unable to score. A 100% certain penalty for handball was denied them and then the post did the same. Th crowd was getting frustrated but were cheered up when Cinderford brought on a substitute by the name of Jason Donavon. But the rather elderly player did not resemble the former Neighbours star. In face he looked more like a cross between Les Battersby and Charlie Drake. But the crowd found him amusing. Whenever the goalkeeper called out "Jason Donavon, Jason Donavon" to call his defender ito position , the crowd joyfully responded with "Kylie Minogue, Kylie Minogue".

The boyish looks and small stature of the Cinderford goalkeeper also provided amusement for the crowd. After conceding City's only, rather fortunate goal, he shouted a string of expletives. "I hope you don't talk to your teachers like that", called a wag from the crowd.
