I really must try to post every day because reliability has dropped off a cliff in recent weeks. Tonight the 17:04 was posted as 21 minutes late, so in order to avoid the chaos that thee late arrival of ths service always causes, I caught the 17:00 Paddington service to Bath and changed there for the 17:17 service to Oldfield Park.

You're right - services have nose-dived again over the last few weeks - looks like we could be in for another miserable winter.
Is it the time of year causing the problems? I fail to see how the cold/leaves/rain makes a 4 carriage train turn into 2.
I smell a fare increase coming. I cynically suggested last year that services were run into the ground before and just after the 15% fare increase last janurary in order that headlines would be grabbed by the overcrowding (which could be later fixed) rather than the inflation-busting increases which they'd rather didn't grab the headlines.
It's cynical I know, but I foresee another 10-15% rise.
