How hilarious that FGW are so rubbish they've inspired this site. I do despair of them I must admit. The prices!
I have a theory that old rolling stock is despatched northwards. When I lived in Manchester I noticed that carriages in use on local routes had formerly plied lines around Birmingham and the South Wales Valleys, but that when they were too clapped out even for Manchester, they were sent on to Scotland.
